I am considering self-publishing options and Matador (Troubador) appear to provide a very extensive and current service. Have any members had experience with them. Would they recommend Matador for a debut author? Are there any pros or cons compared to other companies?

Hi Lorna thanks for posting this comment. I think some of our members have experience with Matador, It might be better to ask this on Facebook in the members group.
Hi Lorna. I messaged you on the Byte webinar today; don’t know if you saw it. I’m also considering ‘hybrid’ publishing with Matador. I went to one of their Open Days and I liked much of what they said and showed. I’m still trying for an agent or an independent publisher, but in the end I’ll probably self-publish. Interesting what Renata Sweeney said about doing it on one’s own; I wouldn’t do that myself, I don’t think. I did it 25 years ago. If you feel like communicating about this, I’m at rosjeff@btinternet.com
Hi Lorna,
You may well have chosen a self-publishing company to work with by now, but I wanted to reach out just in case you were still looking at your options. I may be able to help you!
I co-founded Self Publishing House (https://bit.ly/SelfPublishingHouse) at the beginning of the year, which offers editorial, design, printing and marketing services to authors looking to self-publish.
Rather than working with a hybrid/vanity model, we offer services to authors to get their book ready to the highest standard, but the author retains the full “publisher” role, and so the author earns all revenue from sales of the book, as opposed to earning an author royalty, as in some other cases.
The link above gives an overview of the services that we offer. If you are still looking for help to self-publish your book, please do get in touch and I’d be happy to chat through how we can help you in more detail.
I can be reached at rachel.atkins@fernhurstbooks.com
Best wishes,
Rachel
