We had a fantastic evening at The London Library for our final event in July!

Our panel of experts came together for our event: Byte the Book x The London Library: How To Submit and What Happens Next? 📚 We had an wonderful evening of networking and hearing expert insights from our brilliant panel as they shared the different ways aspiring authors can submit their work and what happens after they’ve shared their submissions with agents and publishers.

Last week, we were joined by a panel of experts including our director and founder, Justine Solomons as the chair of our panel and our incredible speakers: Hannah Chukwu (Hannah Chukwu) - multi-award-winning Publishing Director at Dialogue Publishing, Scott Pack - publishing polymath, and Julia Silk (Julia Silk) - Literary Agent at Greyhound Literary💥 Our panel of industry experts demystified the publishing industry, shared advice on the ways writers might share work with the industry, build their author platforms, shared insights into how publishing houses function and offered tips on how our attendees might find the right spaces for their work and connect with agents or publishers.

Special thanks to @phoebeirelandphotography and Daniel Solomons for taking event photos for us!

A huge thank you to The London Library for hosting us ✨

Being a writer is hard! It’s easy to feel stuck, overwhelmed and full self-doubt 😵‍💫

Whether you’re struggling to finish your book, battling imposter syndrome, feeling paralysed by visibility or marketing, or simply feeling lost in the writing process, these moments happen to all writers — and you don’t have to work through them on your own.

Our Mindset & Confidence Surgeries are free 20-minute micro-coaching sessions designed to help authors get unstuck, regain clarity, and move forward with confidence.

Hosted by @kelly_weekes, these focused sessions give you space to talk through whatever challenge you’re facing right now. Together, you’ll start unpacking the issue and identify practical, supportive next steps you can take immediately.

Sometimes one supportive conversation is enough to unlock momentum again. You’ll leave feeling clearer, calmer, and more able to take your next step forward.

Kelly is an ICF accredited coach, with extensive publishing experience from her time at Hodder & Stoughton and HarperCollins.

She understands the pressures, doubts, and challenges writers face, and creates a supportive, encouraging space where you’ll feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported.

If you wish to come along please book yourself a time slot via our website (click link in our bio!).

🚨 PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ONLY OPEN TO BYTE THE BOOK MEMBERS. 🚨

Will you join us TOMORROW afternoon for our next expert-led session? ✨

Marketing their book is increasingly part of an author’s to do list, particularly on social media. But how can you talk about your book in a way that appeals to your target reader without making you feel really uncomfortable, salesy or as if you are showing off? How can you show up and be visible without feeling judged? What can you say about your book before it is published? And how can you hook people into your book beyond simply telling people to preorder it or that it is out now

Kelly Weekes has spent many years in the marketing departments of several major publishers finding ways to make books appeal to readers and retailers. She now coaches authors on building their confidence to get visible on social media and helps them develop content strategies to engage and build relationships with their target readers.

This is not about needing to be a digital marketing expert with the very latest knowledge regarding social media channels but about finding a way to talk about yourself and your book that feels good to you and entices readers.

Kelly will be in conversation with Justine. Together they will explore how to build a content strategy, the different roles your marketing content has, different ways to bring your book to life in your marketing and ways of being visible that feel possible and exciting rather than uncomfortable.
There will be plenty of time for your questions.

✨ Entrance is free for Byte the Book members.

Tickets for non-members are £25 plus booking fee and VAT for everyone else. Booking is essential.

You can join us via the link in our bio!
