Whilst there are many wonderful things about being a writer, one of the biggest challenges is handling rejection in a way that enables you to keep going. Rejection can happen at all stages of the publishing process whether that’s by an agent you’ve submitted to, a publisher, a change of publishing team, a retailer who doesn’t take your book for a promotion or an event that doesn’t take you as a speaker.
Getting rejections from agents you’ve submitted to is often the first big experience of this. It can hurt and it can derail your writing and your plans. Kelly Weekes is an ICF accredited life and career coach for authors who often works with her clients to help them move on from these setbacks in a way that feels positive and so they can keep pursuing their author career.
In this event Kelly will be in conversation with Justine Solomons discussing how to handle rejection and build your resilience. They will cover:
- Why rejection can feel so bad and how to lessen its impact
- How to handle the rejection in the short term
- How to make a plan to move on positively
- How to build a resilience toolkit and your confidence for the future
