The second of our new ‘Meet the Author’ series of events helping you learn from, and be inspired by, other authors' journeys to publication and beyond.
We are thrilled to be joined by Eric Huang, author of the Guardians of the New Moon series. Not only is Eric a successfully published author but he is a font of knowledge on the publishing industry having worked for Penguin Random House and currently a lecturer in the Masters of Publishing course at City St George’s, University of London.
Eric will be in conversation with Kelly Weekes and together they will explore his author journey and publishing experience. He will share his tips and insights from his experience. There will also be plenty of time for you to ask your own questions.
About the speakers:
Eric Huang
Eric Huang studied palaeontology at university. Field work didn't live up to his Jurassic Park dreams, though, so he moved back home to LA for a stint as a tour guide at Universal Studios. Several soul-destroying Hollywood gigs later, he finally landed a temp job as secretary to the Creative Director of Disney Publishing Worldwide, inadvertently launching a career in children’s books.
Since then, Eric has held editorial and publisher positions on three continents. It was during the COVID pandemic that Eric became a writer. He launched Saint Podcast, a historical exploration of saints' stories, and he wrote his first chapter book, Guardians of the New Moon: The Great Race. Eric is currently published by Little Tiger Press and Quarto Books. He’s a lecturer in the Masters in Publishing course at City St George's, University of London and lives in London with his boyfriend Brian and their cat McNulty.
