Opening the Book: Behind the Scenes at a Publishing House

Join us as we celebrate the second year of working with Hachette UK as they sponsor two bursaries for unpublished writers worth over £600 each, to include an annual membership to Byte The Book, as well as the following debut author support package:

  • Two one-hour one-to-one mentoring session, including review and feedback on an Agent Tables submission
  • One member ticket for Agent Tables

 

Applications are invited from as-yet unpublished writers on a low-income or from under-represented groups (short stories and other online publications are allowed, but the author must not have published a book-length project). FIND MORE INFORMATION ON HOW TO SUBMIT: here.

The winners of 2023 Bursary will be announced at our event, Opening the Book: Behind the Scenes at a Publishing House on 11th July at Hachette’s head offices on Embankment London. Byte The Book’s Justine Solomons will chair this discussion and she’ll be joined by:

  • Kate Evans, Literary Agent at Peters Fraser + Dunlop (PFD)
  • Emad Ahtar, Publisher at Orion
  • Emily Moran, Head of Marketing at Dialogue Books
  • Angelita Lapuz Bradney, 2022/3 Bursary recipient
