Johnny is a writer for younger readers and adults who should know better. Johnny wrote the 'Jack Christie' books, originally published by Templar/ Bonnier and now Lume Books.  These are time travel adventure stories focusing on real 'turning points' in history: 'Day of the Assassins' (1914, and count down to WW1), 'Day of Deliverance' (1588, Elizabeth I and Renaissance), 'Day of Vengeance' (1940, fall of France), 'Day of Rebellion' (1860, China, Taiping rebellion). Johnny has spoken about writing and history at over 100 schools, conferences and festivals (including Edinburgh, Hay, Cheltenham, Starlit London and Borders festivals). 'Day of the Assassins' was shortlisted for BBC/Historical Association Children’s Quills Award and Cumbrian Secondary Schools book award and long-listed for the Branford Boase Award and the Book Trust's Booked Up Programme.
