Are you ready for our expert-led session next week? ✨

Whilst there are many wonderful things about being a writer, one of the biggest challenges is handling rejection in a way that enables you to keep going. Rejection can happen at all stages of the publishing process whether that’s by an agent you’ve submitted to, a publisher, a change of publishing team, a retailer who doesn’t take your book for a promotion or an event that doesn’t take you as a speaker.

Getting rejections from agents you’ve submitted to is often the first big experience of this. It can hurt and it can derail your writing and your plans. Kelly Weekes is an ICF accredited life and career coach for authors who often works with her clients to help them move on from these setbacks in a way that feels positive and so they can keep pursuing their author career.

In this event Kelly will bJustine Solomonsn with Justine Solomons discussing how to handle rejection and build your resilience. They will cover:

- Why rejection can feel so bad and how to lessen its impact
- How to handle the rejection in the short term
- How to make a plan to move on positively
- How to build a resilience toolkit and your confidence for the future

This session is free for Byte The Book members and £25* for everyone else.

If you’re not already a member you can join Byte the Book from £30 a month via our website!

* Plus VAT and Booking Fee

We had a fantastic evening at @century_soho on Tuesday for our first in-person event of 2026! ✨ Our expert panel, Becoming a Bestseller: How Indie Authors and Publishers are Breaking Through (sponsored by CPI 📚), brought together an incredible group of industry voices for a night of networking, insight, and inspiration. On stage, our speakers explored how independent creators are rewriting the rules of publishing, bypassing traditional gatekeepers, reaching bestseller lists, building global fanbases, and taking full control of their careers.

We were joined by an outstanding panel of professionals, chaired by our director and founder @justinesolomons, with speakers: @rachelmcwrites (Publisher & Author, Ackroyd Books), @hannah__twigg (Digital Content Consultant & Podcast Producer), Matt Holland (Founder, @tbbpublishing) and @ryancahillauthor (Bestselling author) 📖

The discussion pulled back the curtain on the modern indie publishing revolution—covering smart digital marketing, innovative release strategies, and community-driven growth tactics that are driving real success.

Special thanks to @phoebeirelandphotography for capturing these fantastic event photos 📸

Huge thank you to @cpi for sponsoring our event and to @century_soho for hosting us!
