I need clarification on when and how I can include some lines of song lyrics in my novel or whether I have to get copyright permissions?
Can I include a few lines, but not the whole song?
Can I include a few lines if I name the artist/songwriter within the dialogue?
What is the correct protocol? I am sending out my debut novel and am concerned that I may be jeopardising my chances of publication simply because I have included lyrics in several places.
