Lynne Russell – Artist/Illustrator/Author
I have a Fine Art degree from Wimbledon Art School and a post-graduate diploma in Illustration from St. Martins school of art.
I trained as a mural painter for Haringey council and have worked in the animation industry.
I have had many picture books published, most notably ‘One Smiling Grandma’ (Heinemann/Dial) which was nominated for the Kate Greenaway award, on the S.A.T.S list for 2 years and exhibited in NYC by the Society of Illustrators.
Other published picture books include: Summerhouse by Lawrence Anholt ( DK) Three Wise Women by Mary Hoffman (Francis Lincoln/Phylis Fogelman) and API and the boy stranger by Patricia Roddy ( Dial)
I have illustrated advertising campaigns for Royal Caribbean Cruise holidays and British Airways along with various Editorial publications.
I lived as an artist in residence at Na Bolom cultural museum, Chiapas, Mexico, where I painted the indigenous people of Oaxaca and Chiapas.
In recent years I have been undertaking portrait commissions and exhibiting.
I produced a large body of paintings of the Venice Carnival which were exhibited in Miami during Art Basel and in Mayfair for the Venice-in-Peril exhibition.
I am a Freeman of the Painter-Stainers Livery company and exhibit annually with them at Painters Hall.
I have been awarded Freedom of the City of London and am a member of the Guild of Freemen.
Recently I was invited to become a Trustee of Heatherley Fine Art School in Chelsea.
